She said I was hands-off? Haha... I wish. I don’t think anyone realizes how exhausting it is to be me.

Belphegor is and always has been the Cafe and Diner's Snake Oil distrubutor. She is the oldest of seven siblings, is a long-time ally and occasional friend of the CaD, and currently works for The Last Cafe under the name II.

Biography

Belphegor is the eldest of the Princes of Hell, the Demon Prince of Sloth, who was granted watch over time. As a child of the Devil and Eve, she is a High Demon, though appears to have power comparable to an Elder, being the only Prince able to recall previous Spheres. At the advent of the universe, before even the first Sphere, there were three utopias, created by the Bird; Skald, Eden and Arcadia. It appears that at some point, Belphegor's youngest sister Lucifer caused cross-contamination between the utopias, by attempting to unify the three, causing knowledge from Eden to seep into the other two. Bird was forced to seal Eden away to stem the flow, and the "snakeskin" left behind became the Ouroboros. The Princes themselves were cast out of Topside, into the Otherside. She would later use her time powers to send her son, "Daichi", backwards in time to orchestrate the fall of Eden.

At some point, Belphegor became trapped inside the Ouroboros. She was approached by Eisheth, who offered her a way out, by making a deal with Fate, Phantom and Pale, three Cold Elders. This deal created the House of Solomon, also known as the House on Dracula Drive. Belphegor was later granted ownership of the House, but it was repossessed by the Phantom when she didn't hold up her end of the deal.

At some point, Belphegor also took control of the Ouroboros, taking up the job of guarding the Gates of Hell as she did so. Because of this, it is assumed that she forged the keys to the Gates of Hell; her own key is called Dejection.

Towards the end of the 15th Sphere, when the Apocalypse was almost upon them, Jean made a deal with Belphegor and Mammon, to use the Bird's Pocketwatch to create a new Sphere, in exchange for majority control over the Cafe and Diner and for Jean to give up his role as the Otherman and become mortal again.

In this Sphere, Belphegor was apparently involved in the First Cafe's "Indigo Operations" - perhaps a war, or at least a prelude - but currently her biggest presence in the First Cafe's time was through her son, Mr. Three.

When the First Cafe went down in flames, Belphegor worked alongside her sister and the new Owner to start their own Cafe and Diner. Specifically, it was her job to gather employees for the Second Cafe. She helped the Cafe get off its feet before taking a step back and choosing Marocchino to take her place.

Belphegor would later do some manoeuvring behind the scenes, asking Manager No. 3 to help her rebuild the Cafe and Diner in 2016. She also, somehow, granted Jackie a piece of the Mantle of 8, though the specifics of that are as yet unknown. She stepped into the background after this, though the Deep Corp 23 were intent on casting doubt over her and Muldra Yonomo, the "Investors".

Her next appearance to the CaD was towards the end of the Cafe Crisis, when Muldra and herself took ownership of the Cafe and Diner, because of their deal with Jean at the end of the 15th Sphere.

Though she was content to take a backseat in the day-to-day operations of the Fourth Cafe, she removed Jean, Felix Blackwood, Jennifer Hepburn and Jericho Myerscough's memories of the Darn Defiance when a patron alerted Mammon to its existence. She also removed Jean's memories of the previous Sphere. When Muldra was ousted from the Cafe, she seems to have backed off as well.

Belphegor is currently Cafe and Diner once again, this time as II of the hidden Last Cafe. She gave them a base in her home, though they would later move to do business in Long Beach, CA.

Personality

Many expect Belphegor to be rather lazy, and though this isn't wrong, per se, she does a lot of work behind the scenes. She tends to be rather sleepy, and only really writes receipts when there is information only she knows, a trait she shares with her son Mr. Kansai. Her motives are mysterious and hard to grasp, though for now they seem to align with the CaD's.

Ties That Bind

  • Has many, many children, such as Mr. Kansai and Mr. Three.
  • Has a long history with I, such that he seems to know her better than he does her sister.
  • Seems to have an okay relationship with most of her siblings.
