Jericho M. is the washed-up warlock in charge of the Palm Beach Cafe and Diner, alongside Manager No. 4 and Manager No. 6. Originally from the U.K., he came across the pond and has stayed in the U.S.A. ever since.
Biography
Jericho has been with the Cafe and Diner since 2017, though he has been a part of the coffee trade for a lot longer. Alongside his older brother Will and younger brother Jordan, he worked for the IRIS Company until an Indigo Exchange program brought him to the U.S.A., where he was sent in to deal with some Fast Food activity. During that incident, Julius, Jericho and Joy were forced to make a deal with the Wicked to survive. After that, Jericho, No. 4 and No. 6 were inseparable.
The three would later meet Ex-44A, together with whom they would found the original Palm Beach Cafe and Diner, where they would fight the Dark forces of Umbra, and banish the shadows by entering the light. At some point, Nicole would split her Piece of the Mantle of Eight into three pieces, giving one each to Jericho, Joy and Julius Following the Cafe Crisis, the Palm Beach CaD found itself merged with the Long Beach CaD, and Jericho became Manager No. 5.
After the Fourth Cafe's Otherworldly Adventures came to a close, Jericho spent nine months with Nicholas Langley, searching through the universe to find his long-time, on-again, off-again girlfriend Nikki. When they had found her, she had decided to sacrifice herself to take over the position of the Prince of Lust from Asmodeus, who had recently died. Jean also departed around this time, leaving Jericho with his Pieces of Eight, bringing Rico's total up to three-eighths of the Mantle. Since then, he has been co-managing the Palm Beach Cafe and Diner and, in October 2021, brought Miss. Augustine into the Cafe's basement, who they required Mr. Bartlett's help to serve, at great cost to the Cafe.
Personality
Jericho is a rather eccentric person, to put it lightly. In his first few years with the CaD he put on a fake cockney accent, which extended to his writing. This accent got worse the more he drank; since he has more or less given up drinking in recent years, he has reverted to his more natural speaking voice.
He is also known for making rather rash decisions, such as trying to play games with Mrs. Aka in 2017 or his handling of Miss. Augustine. He is willing and able to plan ahead, of course, but he does like to rush into things. Despite this, he is arguably one of the most adept haberdashers on staff, on the same level as No. 17. This is due to his deal with the Wicked allowing him to access Elder magic.
Ties That Bind
- Very close with Managers No. 4 and 6, such that they are collectively referred to as the TriCaD.
- Formerly worked with Employee No. 422 at IRIS Co.
- Has a contentious relationship with his brothers Will and Jordan; seems to be the black sheep of the family.
- Antagonistic towards Employee No. 116 after the "Golden Gate Child Incident", which happened when they were both working for the Indigos.
- Dated Ex-44A on and off for about 12 years. Their final breakup wasn't on the best of terms.
