That quite possibly could not have gone better. Agent Nec, Dan, was beginning to worry that his assumption that Eve could easily enter the House of Hamilton was false. However, he had plenty of reason to assume Eve had some degree of control over the fabled House of the Phantom Lane. How? Why? Irrelevant. At least for now, anyway. Of course, I’d love to unravel what secrets lie in that House of his. But what matters now is that it worked. They took the bait.
I suppose this would be the first written account of our plan, so I will start at the beginning. From the very start, we wanted the Hyperions to think that we were keeping the Sebitti in the Zulu Vaults. Why? Because they knew we would never be so foolish, so utterly mad, as to keep them there. If Fenrir was able to penetrate the Freezer, the Zulu Vaults aren’t much more secure. So, they would have to assume we were lying. We were. We were actually keeping them in Dan’s House in the realm between—the Phantom Lane.
Once we learned of Eve’s involvement, the plan had to change, but only slightly. We were confident that Fenrir or Warden couldn’t enter the Phantom Lane without some effort, and even if they did, they would never find the House out among the endless phantasmal galaxies. But Eve? Dan knew she had some sort of… “connection” to the House. A connection we assumed she could use to enter the House uninvited. As it turns out, yes, she can. So, we affixed a tracker to one of the Sebitti. And on another Sebitti… well, I like to think of it as a “Soul Bomb.”
If Fenrir tries to absorb that Sebitti’s power, and he will, the usual Elder-killing resonance will cascade but in reverse. The Sebitti will be fine, and Fenrir will… Well, I hope he won’t die. He shouldn’t. It should merely daze him. The whole “death” part of the energy cascade should only apply to Elders. Hopefully, Fenrir will be knocked out long enough for Dan to take the House to their location, retrieve the unconscious Fenrir, and then Zver can put him in the Freezer, at least for the time being. Ah—we’ve just locked on to their location. Time to save the day.
Hopefully.
