For those who haven’t heard yet, Mrs. Boney will be—has been—staying at the Long Island Cafe to help with our influx of Daiquiri drinkers. As we understand it, when things took a turn for the worse, No. 224 made the call, and Mrs. Boney came to assist. Mrs. Boney, a very talented haberdasher and a seasoned sandwich enjoyer with a side of Orange Juice, has extensive experience with unorthodox hats—like the ones we’ve seen on our Daiquiri customers. She’s mentioned that she’s not supposed to be helping us, per the order of our Orange Juice distributor, but I suppose the same goes for No. 26 and No. 44, and look how well that’s going for Padre.

It’s taken us a day or so to get caught up on what we’ve tried so far. As Mrs. Boney puts it, we’ve been like the fifth leg of a dog to her thus far. I guess while we were out for the month, those who were still on the clock could only default to the most basic of actions—which, to some degree, makes sense to me. Though it does raise the question of why No. 224’s most basic instinct was to call Mrs. Boney for help. How they even kept in touch is a bit of a mystery to me. I suppose No. 224 has done more outlandish things before. And who could say no to No. 224? Clearly not Mrs. Boney.

Ah, yes, we’re using customer names for Mrs. Boney now. But you should already be well acquainted with her. She’s a certain customer who came from Russia long ago—big and strong, with eyes like a flaming glow. You know how it goes, I’m sure. This isn’t the first time Mrs. Boney has helped out the Cafe and Diner either. Good to know she’s more of a consistent patron than a fair-weather friend.
