Days turned into months which turned into years as Eve grew closer and closer to Adam. True to his word, within the house Eve never had to worry about being rewound. And Adam, he was soft-spoken and caring, his intelligence always evident in his thoughtful words and actions. He had a remarkable ability to think several steps ahead, making Eve feel safe and cherished in his presence. Eve felt like she could talk to him about anything and everything. He was the perfect muse. She loved him. And he loved her.

Eve was happy.

Adam, however, was not.

Of course, Eve thought he was happy. He never complained. Never protested. He just simply watched and waited. He watched her with an unblinking gaze, and with every passing day Eve could feel his eyes grow colder, more distant, more calculating. Eve knew something was bothering him—but she could never seem to find the words to ask him what it was.

As time went on, Eve found it more and more difficult to predict how Adam would act one day to the next. He had a wall full of masks so he could wear a different one every day. Some were more expressive than others; some were even more frightening than the last. And each day, Eve could feel her own thoughts growing more and more muddled as her mind began to become less and less her own. Then, out of the blue, from a whisper deep within her own mind, a thread weaving into place, a new idea finally came to her.

A child.

She had tried to make a muse herself, but with Adam, they could make a muse together. A child. They could create life. Together. A child that was a product of both of their imaginations. Their ideas. Their knowledge. Their love.

"Adam? My love?"

"Yes, my dearest?"

"I think I know how to create the muse we need. To create a new Universe," Eve said as she placed a gentle hand on her stomach. Adam looked down at Eve's hand then back up to her face.

"My, my… what an excellent idea. Wherever did you come up with it? The best of both of us. How… splendid."

Days again turned into months, and then, a new room in their house opened up. A nursery. The walls were a soft lovely shade of green decorated with bright yellow dandelions. In the nursery's crib, sat their baby, a new Archon with pale silver skin and deep crimson eyes. Her hair was like spun starlight, her voice was the sound of the cosmos, and her laugh was like a star going supernova. She was perfect.

"What shall we call her, my love?"

"Hope."

"What a lovely name." Adam held his daughter, rocking her gently in his arms, a sly smile creeping across his face hidden beneath his mask. "Hope."
