Perfect.

It was another absolutely perfect day in Eden. As it always was. Everything was perfect. The sky was a perfect shade of soft blue, the rolling green fields of the Utopic garden were perfectly spotted with bright yellow dandelions, and the clear, cool waves of its perfect sea gently lapped at its unending shore. The only imperfection in all of Eden was Eve.

Eve sat at the bottom of a large twisting oak tree, picking at the dandelions, ripping them up by their roots, and throwing them aimlessly in front of her. She leaned her head back against the trunk behind her, letting out a sigh as she watched the clouds drift slowly across her endless sky. *Why did perfection have to be so boring?* What was the point of paradise if it was so, well… perfect? There is nothing to strive for, nothing to learn, and certainly nothing to ever look forward to. Eve had started to miss the unrelenting turmoil and chaos of the world she had left behind.

She was also so easy to tempt, one way or another. All it took was a smile and an outstretched hand from the son of Master Kaos to lead her astray. To lead her into thinking she, too, could create a Universe, a Utopia, of her own. She should've known it wouldn't be that easy. She should've known that Master Kaos did not intend to rule over bedlam and pandemonium, leading armies of Archons against one another for all eternity. Perfection, as it turns out, is easy—one needs only to do nothing at all.

Eve often wondered what her fellow conspirators were up to in their own Utopias. Demiurge, ever his father's son, was certain the path to a perfect Utopia lay in some sort of spontaneity. The last Eve heard of it, he had been spending his time smashing particles together to see what might happen. He would use his stole tool of creation, not as an instrument but an aimless hammer. He never had a goal or aim; he just experimented for the sake of experimentation. Something would have to stick at some point. Eve thought he must have been having a good time, but he was still no closer to true perfection than when he started.

Abraxas, on the other hand, ruled his Utopia with an iron fist and the heart of a taskmaster. Abraxas believed that perfection could only be achieved if everyone knew exactly what was expected of them and if they all did their part, no matter what lot in life they were given. In the process of his own pursuit of perfection, Abraxas had taken to meticulous note-keeping and journaling. Every step of the process was documented in one of his many journals. He must have been exhausted, but still, he was no closer to true perfection than when he started.

Eve had found perfection in her inaction. Nothing ever changed. Nothing ever happened. As such, everything in Eden was… perfect. She knew she could do better than this.
