"We have to stop them!" Lucifer shouted, pulling away from the window.

"What can we do?" the Serpent asked, his voice tinged with desperation.

"I... I don't know. But we have to do something. Come on!"

Lucifer and the Serpent raced through the maze of chambers behind the veil, searching frantically for a way back to the Universe. They traversed countless rooms, but each one seemed to lead to a dead end. The way back was not the same as the way they had come.

"Where are we?" the Serpent asked, scanning the unfamiliar surroundings.

"How should I know? You're the one who’s supposed to know your way around here."

"I never had to leave on my own!"

Frustration overwhelmed Lucifer, and she collapsed beside a large stone archway. Tears welled up in her eyes, spilling down her cheeks as the Serpent gently coiled himself around her arm. "I have to save her," she whispered. "I have to save Eden... I..."

A soft, mocking chuckle echoed from beyond the archway.

"Who's there?" Lucifer called out, her voice trembling.

"You have no idea where you are, do you?" A deep feminine voice responded, dripping with false concern.

Lucifer and the Serpent exchanged uneasy glances. "Do you?" the Serpent asked, his voice barely a whisper.

"Of course I do. The remains of this Universe... a failed endeavor. Not unlike the one below, it seems."

Wiping her tears, Lucifer peered through the archway. A strange, translucent figure, masked in shadows, stood before them. Only a pair of piercing, frigid blue eyes were clearly visible. The figure beckoned them to follow, leading them deeper into the empty chambers.

"I don’t think we should go with her," the Serpent whispered, his voice laced with caution.

"I don’t see any other options," Lucifer replied, a strange thread of compulsion tugging at her mind. She glanced back at the archway, now a long, dark passage stretching into the unknown. "And I don’t want to be trapped here."

The stranger turned, a hint of a smile stretching across her shadowed face. "Are you sure you want to leave this place? It would be unaffected by the Son of Kaos’ new toy. It is outside his Universe, after all."

Lucifer shook her head. "I have to save my mother. My siblings. I have to save the way things are."

The stranger inclined her head, leading them through the darkness. Silence enveloped them, the stranger’s presence filling the rooms with an eerie chill. Finally, they paused in front of a large window, overlooking a glowing Spire far below.

"Look. You know this place, don’t you?" the stranger asked, her voice smooth and calculating.

Lucifer’s eyes widened as she recognized her father’s Spire. Another thread of thought stitched itself into her mind, connecting with the first. "Of course, the Spire!"

"Hm?" The stranger’s faint smile grew wider, more ominous.

"I can save Eden. I can save everything. I just need to ensure that Skald, Arcadia, and Eden are linked together before Demiurge starts the watch."

"...What an excellent idea. Wherever did you come up with it?"

"I... I don’t know. It just came to me." Lucifer ignored the strange sensation of thousands of fine, gossamer threads weaving into her mind. "But it will work. I know it will. I just need to get out of here—"

"Your exit," the stranger said, gesturing toward an open door.

Lucifer and the Serpent stepped through and found themselves back in the Utopic garden of Eden.
