DINER RECEIPT
RECEIPT NUMBER: TNT01
RECEIPT DATE: 10 29 1988
MANAGER TITLE: BALTIMORE
RECEIPT NOTES:
As I mentioned briefly yesterday, we still have one customer requiring the Cafe’s attention—Mrs. Berkley. Coincidentally, she’s currently in Berkley, California. That’s not her usual stomping ground, as she typically resides in London. Something, however, has brought her across the pond and down the border into the States—right into California, practically in our backyard. A day trip at the very least.
Now, Mrs. Berkley hails from mon amour’s region of Ottawa. To be clear, she’s not your typical resident of the area. She’s something far older than mon amour’s control of the region, and truthfully, she’d look more at home in her more envious brother’s domain. Ordinarily, Mrs. Berkley lingers near a murky spot just beyond Ottawa’s back plains. Her sudden appearance in California has me concerned—mostly due to her usual domain. It could mean nothing… or it could tie to the strange lights we saw in Death Valley and Salt Lake City.
Adding to the mystery, Mrs. Berkley left us a rather confusing message with her order. It read: “Help Anna repair a problem when she says hi, Emma.” Odd, isn’t it? Who is Anna? Who is Emma? Are we forgetting something—or misremembering? Adding to the mystery, Mrs. Berkley left us a rather confusing message with her order. It read: “Public rumor enigma being spread…s.” What rumor? And didn’t I just—? Oh, you get the bit, right? Or do I have to go all the way back and read it again?
We’ll head out to Berkley after mon amour’s meeting with her siblings. I’d prefer to stay near the Cafe until that conference is wrapped up, just in case things go particularly sour. The upside of serving Mrs. Berkley is that we don’t have to tread delicately. Mon amour often finds her quite irritating, so if our service is a bit rough around the edges, all the better.
