Summary of Receipt

The Trusted Associate writes his first receipt, expressing excitement about the CaD's opening but asking Baltimore to start recruiting new people. While the three of them might be able to help one customer per month or so, Astoria 23 will likely be serving tens - or more. And they won't be kind about it. So he's begun arranging a few meetings between him and a few contacts to see if there are any possible trustworthy candidates for the CaD, even if they're not recruiting.

DINER RECEIPT
RECEIPT NUMBER: SFE01
RECEIPT DATE: X 24 19XX
MANAGER TITLE: TRUSTED ASSOCIATE
RECEIPT NOTES:
Ah, my very first receipt. It is quite the occasion, no? Though I find myself at a loss for words. What is there to say except how exciting it is to start our little Cafe and Diner together. I could hardly think of two better partners to work with. Though… while the three of us are quite capable, I fear we will run ourselves ragged if we do not expand our operations a bit. I know, I know, we must pay our debts, but really, nouvel ami, it will be easier to find people now than later.

Perhaps the three of us can serve a customer every few months, but that won’t do, will it? Every customer we serve the Salt & Pepper at the Lighthouse will serve 10, 20, perhaps even 30. And they won’t be lenient. They won’t let customers run up their tabs. They’ll have them paid in full after each and every service. I’ve worked there, you know. They do not approach customer relations in the same way we do, and they are not afraid of having poor reviews. In fact, they welcome it. They want to be seen as the singular, unopposable, and indomitable force in the coffee trade.

So… if we are to stand up to them, we need help. I know you and your amour have outvoted me on this, but I have started to arrange a few meetings. Of course, I won’t tell them about the Cafe yet. But I would like to get an idea of who in the coffee industry would be willing to work with us in this new pursuit. At least grant me that. I am not used to so much waiting around. But, I suppose I am no longer a part of a well-oiled machine. I am one of those planning to build a far better one, eh?
