DINER RECEIPT
RECEIPT NUMBER: RATP06
RECEIPT DATE: 10 28 1988
MANAGER TITLE: BALTIMORE
RECEIPT NOTES:

Alright, we’ll list Madeline Saturn as a maybe for now. I’d much prefer a full agreement over a partial one, but we’re not in any rush. Besides, my Trusted Associate has one last interview scheduled for me on the 13th. After that, it might be best to focus on preparing for the employees I know will be joining the Cafe. Mon amour has wisely reminded me not to count on my priority picks saying yes again—so, I suppose it’s good to stay a bit flexible.

Even though Madeline has declined my offer for the moment, there’s still something I promised to help Ms. Saturn with. She brought with her a comfort food I find nearly irresistible, and it’s something I’m eager to dive into in the new year. It’ll give us something to focus on in the meantime—at least until we’re ready for our grand opening. I wasn’t seriously considering sitting idle for another four years, were you? And while Ms. Saturn—Madeline—is entirely new to me… maybe that’s part of her draw. Once you’ve seen everything repeat itself over and over again, a fresh face can work wonders for staving off the ever-encroaching ennui.

But before we can turn our attention to helping Ms. Saturn, we have a few tasks left to complete: one last customer to serve, one final interview to conduct, and a great deal of preparation to tackle before the Christmas rush descends upon us. Still, Madeline is something different—and different is good. Great, even. Her presence makes me hopeful we’ll have more control over what’s coming than I currently expect. We’re lucky, after all. We already know what didn’t work before, and with that knowledge, perhaps we’ll manage to avoid the same missteps this time around.
