It’s like I said, we were able to weather the storm, but the aftermath is still sinking in. The Cafe’s a bit of a wreck—and the air is still tinged with that horrible acrid Blight smell. The damage isn’t bad; hell, it’s been worse before. Things just happen to look worse than they are right now. Payroll’s already working out the necessary repairs, and I think she’s going to file an insurance claim—with a “thank you,” I’d hope. Still, a lot of what needs to be done can only be accomplished once you two are back. Well, mainly the Manager, but New Guy can always help too!
The real toll, however, isn’t so much on the building—it’s on us. Payroll and I both have been drowning under the weight of everything that went down. It just… it happened so fast. And seeing Aplut break down like that, and then… pulled apart… it’s a heavy burden to carry, even if she was something that was never meant to be in the first place. It’s also a pretty potent reminder that Payroll’s cocktails are a bit stronger than she thinks they are. I’ve never seen a cocktail glamorous enough to immediately draw the attention of a customer like that. It might have something to do with how close she was to the original Owner… or it might’ve just been a really impressive drink.
We need a break. Seriously. I know we’re not going to be getting that anytime soon, but… Payroll and I are just totally wiped. There’s this horrible sensation that no matter how much we plan or prepare, chaos will always find us, y’know? We’ve got each other, we’ve still got most of a Cafe, and we’ve done what we can to slow down the Dark. That’s… pretty good. Though, I can’t help but feel like there is still some sort of lingering static in the air… some part of Aplut that is still holding on. Mm… We should take the time to rebuild, heal, and rest… but… maybe that’s a trap. Maybe we’re just in the eye of the storm?
Peace, love, and Joy…
