I’ve got a table set up for Miss. Ojai, assuming she’s still eager to dine with us. I’m not exactly one for taking hats, but I know enough about taking coats to ensure she’ll be insulated at her next reservation. Speaking of, I assume she’ll be back for seconds, so we might as well take the initiative to pencil her in. While Miss. Ojai can be quite a handful to serve, she is Miss. after all. She is very picky about what she eats and where she eats it. Basic hospitality here would dictate a nice subzero dining environment, low O, and please let’s ditch the paper menus, only fine non-flammables for Ojai.

Which, if we are able to set the right atmosphere for Miss. Ojai, perhaps, she would be willing to help us out? Reading No. 62’s receipt from yesterday got me thinking. Sure, we could try our luck with the other ten customers, but Ojai is here now. If we can somehow get Miss. Ojai into this dining environment, she might be in a good enough mood to help us out. Then again… this is playing with fire. Even if this service would go off without a hitch, we’d have to contend with a very peeved-off Ojai afterward. Or… we could pay her tab in full, then and there. I know that Miss. Ojai’s been a rather rude customer in the past, and it might be for the best to serve her one last time and then bar her from our business.

Well, it’s not my decision to make. We’d need managerial approval for something like that, and I’d assume Manager No. 1 would want to sign off on it. Still, we don’t know what that little black notebook has written in it, and it might be better to deal with it as soon as possible, especially if it’s provoking customers like Miss. Ojai to frequent the Cafe.
