El Coco paid me a visit on my roof tonight.
It seems that Satan wants El Coco to fall, so that he too may die, allowing Eve to acquire his Key—along with those of Mammon, Leviathan, Beelzebub, and Belphegor. From what El Coco said, it sounds like both Mammon and Satan are already willing to sacrifice themselves for their mother. And if Rachel and Jericho are right, Fate itself seeks the Devil's release. Fate will do anything to bring that about, including the demise of El Coco and her associates.
I'm going to hold off on filing this until after the New Year. El Coco might be telling the truth, but she could just as easily be feeding me lies. Until I know more, I won’t sound any unfounded alarms. Especially since tomorrow is her Fated day to die… I don’t want to be the reason we fail again. We’ve already seen what happens when we defy Fate in this matter, and I doubt we can afford to lose another employee.
Miss Cece: Boa noite.
No. 71: Ah—El Coco. An unexpected surprise.
Miss Cece: Mm. You aren’t afraid? Perhaps I’ve lost my touch.
No. 71: Should I be? Surely you know as well as I do that Fate wants you dead, not me.
Miss Cece: It isn’t Fate that wants me dead. Not directly.
No. 71: Satan, then?
Miss Cece: …Sim.
No. 71: And you’re not going to challenge him? Just going to roll over and die?
Miss Cece: What else can I do? We played our part, but now he wants more.
No. 71: More?
Miss Cece: As his Regents, we were tasked with bringing him back to this plane of existence after his death or… undoing.
No. 71: You're welcome.
Miss Cece: …Yes, well. We did it, didn’t we? I did it. Every other Regent fell at your hands.
No. 71: Unintentionally, for the most part.
Miss Cece: As if it were Fated.
No. 71: So, Fate does want you dead after all?
Miss Cece: Perhaps. But more so, I am a burden to my Lord. Under our arrangement, he cannot die as long as I live.
No. 71: A burden? That sounds more like a blessing to me.
Miss Cece: A blessing, perhaps—until he wishes to die.
No. 71: Satan’s grown suicidal?
Miss Cece: Eve has convinced him it’s the only way to free his father.
No. 71: Is that so? But that’s clearly untrue. Satan’s had plenty of schemes to free the Devil that didn’t involve his own death.
Miss Cece: And they’ve all failed. Eve wants the most direct route. She wants only to succeed.
No. 71: And she’s willing to kill her children to do it? And Mammon—especially Mammon—and Satan are willing to follow?
Miss Cece: They’ve been promised prominent places in the world to come. Death is merely a setback to them, nothing more.
No. 71: I see. And what about you? Have you been promised a similar place in the next universe?
Miss Cece: Not as grand as a loyal Prince, but yes—assuming I let the Cafe and Diner defeat me.
No. 71: Will you?
Miss Cece: Not willingly. Personally, Sahir, I don’t care for promises of a tomorrow I cannot see. I live for the here and now.
No. 71: And you think you’ll be able to defy Fate? Eve? Satan?
Miss Cece: Não custa tentar.
