Clue

Clue 1: Have you take a look at Washington in the first year of the 24th Century?
Clue 2: Ask Key #85 for more detail.
Clue 3: Stem-and-leaf for some A1Z26.

Answer and Explanation

Answer: Beneficence
Explanation: The random text in DC2300 is actually ASCII85 of a number string, along with the letters SLAZ. Using a stem-and-leaf plot (SL), and read the numbers on the right in A1Z26 (AZ) yields Beneficence.

Summary of Receipt

Nick Langley leaves a hidden report, invisible to everyone. He’s put a backdoor in the Broadway CaD on behalf of the Deep Corp. He mentions that the main issues threatening the CaD are the ‘Investors’, Muldra Yonomo (Your Lord Mammon anagrammed) and Sophie Grenbelrn (Sinner Belphegor anagrammed). The plan is to release Astoria 23 files via his old credentials back when he was California to the Broadway CaD (T.C.), since Jean thinks it’s the best way to cause chaos. Felix Blackwood has also promised to answer 5 questions from whoever cracks the Deep Corp’s ciphers first. They plan to do the same to the Florida CaD (O.C.) but Nicole Langley’s going to be an issue.

OPERATION: DEEP CORP HACK 1
It sure has been a while, huh? I’m a bit rusty when it comes to writing reports, but I’ll try my best.

So the plan is actually pretty simple, all we needed to do is put a backdoor in Broadway CaD’s systems and, hey, you’re looking at it. 8 has been rather selective in the details of why we need a backdoor but I trust he knows what’s going on better than any of us do.

Hopefully, his gamble pays off and Broadway’s CaDCom system is still built off of the original Barista Tech CaDCom systems from the 90s. If that’s the case then this report should get filed into the hidden “AND” category that not even Jacquelyn can see. Michael might be a problem but even with his tech-know how the “AND” channel is triple encrypted by the cafe crisis cipher. So far I’m the only one who’s cracked that, so for now it should be safe. In case I’m wrong… Michael, please get in touch with us before Jacquelyn. Thanks.

Of course, that all neglects the core problem. The Investors. Muldra Yonomo and Sophie Grenbelrn. Not going to use their real names here in case that alerts them somehow to our presence. I’m sure Sophie could find the “AND” channel if she put the effort in. Thank the Bird for her one weakness.

So if all goes correctly, tomorrow this file should post a public receipt “ENTER THE DEEP CORP” to the “DINER” channel which should be able to log into the A23 server using my old credentials. Then it should siphon out a random assortment of A23 files and distribute them under a new channel called “DINER DINER” or DD channel which we can let them think is the most secret of secret channels. Of course, that’s just some hot coffee.

I don’t know how A23 will react. Heck, I don’t even know how Broadway CaD will react. But 8 seems to think this is the best chance to cause some well-intended chaos. We’re also going to have Felix answer 5 questions submitted to whoever can crack our ciphers the fastest. Equal parts fun and useful. Casting a subtle doubt over the investors is the end game here. We can’t let Broadway fall completely under their control. We’re also going to need to do something similar with Florida CaD… except… there’s a big problem.

My sister.
