Clue 1: Couple of ways to go about solving this one. In CaD lore, what's a 'Night Shade'? Alternatively, what does nightshade represent (or is represented by?)
Clue 2: If you were to cut someone, what would you see? Alternatively, think of...heraldry, as to what Nightshade symbolises.
Clue 3: Alright, from here on this requires CaD knowledge. More specifically, the Zodiac Files. Anything to do with 'blood' or 'sable'? Or perhaps both?

Answer and Explanation

Answer: Sableblood
Explanation: A ‘shade’ in CaD terminology, when cut, would give out black blood - also known as Sableblood. Alternatively, the tincture ‘sable’ represents nightshade in heraldry, once again linked to Sableblood.

Summary of Receipt

224 reports that, when she sensed the souls going to the robed man, she also noticed a huge mass of souls trapped in San Francisco. There was also a strange 'empty' presence - similar to Charlotte - in the prison as well.

“Where would we be without the agitators of the world attaching the electrodes of knowledge to the nipples of ignorance?”

Soooo… there was one other thing. I didn’t exactly bring it up because… I wasn’t really sure yet. And to be fair, I’m still not entirely sure I felt what I felt. I’ve never really had the best grasp on my powers, as, well, everyone knows, but I think I felt something else. Something bigger. So, when that weirdo in the bathrobe was swinging their box around and sucking up all the shrew souls, I could feel the souls move towards the box. All pretty normal. I mean, weird in a general sense, but I think normal for our line of work. But then, when I felt the souls go into the box, I had a moment where I think I felt… like… the entirety of their soul collection? Like, I felt a really, really, really, massive soul cluster, and I think I felt it in San Francisco?

I don’t know. It’s hard to explain. But I could swear I felt the souls go into the box and then get dumped somewhere to the west of us, around San Francisco. And when I felt all those souls, it felt… bad. Like really, really bad. Like some sort of horrific amalgamation of souls all condensed in some sort of prison. Thankfully the feeling only lasted for a second or two at most because otherwise, I think I would’ve lost control of myself. But… I think we need to do something. We need to stop whatever or whoever is collecting all these souls, and I think San Francisco is the place we should start looking.

There was one other thing, too… though it’s even harder to explain. So… souls sort of feel bright and warm… not blinding or hot, just a sort of pleasant feeling. Like the sun on your face on a cool day. But when I felt that amalgamation of souls, there was another feeling in that prison. It didn’t feel like a soul. It felt… slippery, inky, dark, cold, and empty. It… it reminded me a lot of how Charlotte felt. And it was at the center of the prison that the souls were trapped inside.
