Clue 1: All three of these are video game bosses.
Clue 2: How well do you know the 'mechanics' of the Mega Man franchise? What does beating a boss grant you?
Clue 3: So how should these three bosses be fought, normally?
Answer and Explanation
Answer: Reverse Order
Explanation: These animals are a reference to Mega Man X, where three of its bosses share their names. In the franchise, defeating a boss allows you to use their power, which another boss will be weak to, resulting in an ideal ‘pathway’ for fighting the bosses.. In Mega Man X, the ‘correct order’ for these three bosses is Sting Chameleon, Storm Eagle and Flame Mammoth - in other words, the reverse order of the puzzle.

Heyo, it’s me, No. 62. Rasputin and No. 53 just brought in an unconscious Protodemon specimen for study. Before we got zapped into a memory for a month, we were using weed killer to handle the Protodemons. But the latest batch? They seemed to be immune. That’s why we wanted to dig into what made Eve and Eden what they are today—to figure out how to stop these things. Here’s what I’ve pieced together so far…
The weed killer worked at first because the Protodemons we initially faced were made from dandelion seeds—pappi, or pappus, singular. We saw Eve do this all the time in Eden; she even created the Fountain of Youth this way. With the Fountain, she could give these creations a degree of immortality. Let’s call these 'pre-fall' Protodemons. The weed killer was effective because, at their core, they were plant-based. Weed-based, even. But they were supposed to be 'immortal' thanks to the Fountain, which leads us to the 'post-fall' Protodemons.
These post-fall Protodemons were created from Eve’s lingering powers of Creation after the Fall of Eden. Instead of being made of plants, they’re made of rot. The same rot that the Pale brought to her Utopia and likely the rot that festered beneath Eden’s surface until its removal. We 'killed' those pre-fall Protodemons, but when they exploded into a big puff of black spores, I’m guessing they reconstituted into post-fall versions. And that brings me to a sort of solution…
Right now, Protodemons can’t be killed. But… limited testing shows they can be 'flipped' between pre- and post-fall states. Instead of Mecoprop, we need to use Chloropicrin. In theory, at least. When the Protodemons are in their pre-fall state, they seem more… manageable. At least until we figure out how to send them home for good and keep them from coming back.
