I should prolly explain my lil’ plan, choice? Aka, the Redman, he holds all of the Dark’s secrets. He’s gotta. The annoying red Hampton Wick loves findin’ out everything ‘e can; it’s in ‘is nature. It’s ‘is game. He can’t very well go around ‘osting ‘igh-stakes trivia matches if ‘e isn’t confident that he already knows more than you do. His game, for those who don’t know, involves summoning him; he then asks you a question, sets a piece of paper on fire, and gives you that much time to answer.
If you get it wrong, you lose. You get bloodshot. Which gives him control over you and usually just ends up in him killin’ you off when possible. But… if you get it right… which is often bloody ‘ard to do, mind you, you get to ask ‘im a question. Any question. Any question you want. And for him to not lose, he ‘as to answer it truthfully. Then it’s usually a draw unless, ‘course, you can think up somethin’ he doesn’t know. And I know somethin’ he doesn’t know.
The name of this seed thing we pulled out of Thyrs. The seed the Dark ‘as been usin’ in their recruitment. The seed Umbra prizes so greatly… the seed which we have to call “seed” because we don’t know what it actually is either. Redman doesn’t know. Go back and check the transcripts. He admitted it ‘imself. He could’ve been lyin’ sure. Demons love to lie. But I don’t think he was in that moment.
And I suppose there’s only one way to find out if I’m right, choice?
