I have assessed young #1313’s condition. However, she swore me to secrecy upon the matter, and what am I if not a slave to the almighty pinky promise, eh? I’ve made it this many years in life by guarding secrets; it would be shameful to let one slip now. Of course, I will do what I can to remedy her situation, though I fear this is something I cannot fix. Not easily. I’ll need to do some research on the subject. However, she is, as far as I can tell, fine. As fine as she can be, given the cards she’s been dealt. I don’t know when she’ll perk back up to her usual self, but my advice to everyone is to give her time, yes?

Although, with her condition, I cannot allow her to take part in #53’s Operation Greenout. It is simply far too dangerous. As such, I’ll need to figure out another way to keep the Hatman at bay while we deal with the Redman. As a Boogieman, his strength is derived from the terms of his contract with Satan, no? However—that is often also where a Boogieman’s greatest weaknesses lie as well. While I don’t know the exact terms of the Redman’s contract, I’ll write down what I do know.

Redman is a standard “game” Boogieman. Meaning, he is granted access to the Flipside when someone is foolish enough to play his game. To play his game, a person would require thirteen red candles, a mirror, red paint, and red paper. The player must cut the paper into a doll shape, writing their name on half and Redman’s name, Rubeus Redman, on the other half. Then, using the same red paint, they must draw two red eyes in their mirror so that they can meet with the players. From there, it is a fairly simple ritual, light the candles, hold the mirror, and chant, “Rubeus Redman, please come, please come, I will not leave until you come.” If he is interested in playing, he’ll appear and take the paper doll. You then have until your half of the doll is burnt to answer his question, and then you may ask him a question in turn. If you win, the Redman becomes your servant until an answer to your question is found…

Which does raise the question… how has the Redman been playing his game? He shouldn’t be able to, seeing as he is still aiding the Hatman in answering his question. Ah, perhaps that may be his weakness? If the Redman breaks his terms by playing with humans while still in the service of the Hatman, he could be stripped of his powers or worse. We would need to catch him in the act, though.
