I bring unfortunate news. I was able to locate our missing Warden, though it would appear that they have fallen in with the Obscure Obelus Order—the Daggers. I believe Dover’s read on the situation is correct. It appears Warden is not too discerning about who they work with. However, it does make me wonder what the Daggers promised Warden for their service. More importantly, what do they intend to have Warden do for them?

Joining the Daggers is not an easy process, nor do they take just anyone, even if they are an Elder-killing Elder. It’s important to remember, for all the power that Warden offers, they are still a rather young Elder. However… I could also see there being value in Warden’s lack of self. And, of course, Warden is hardly the first ex-Cafe employee to be recruited by the Daggers. I believe Ashlyn and Miranda from the Third Cafe were offered a chance at Obscurity. I know Ashlyn took the blade, but I wasn’t quite certain what became of Miranda.

Now… what to do? It is bothersome, certainly. Even Angels prefer not to cross paths with the Daggers. Warden joining the Sacred Hall of Bingo would’ve been easier. Hell—if Warden allied themselves to the Devil himself, we might have a better chance at pulling them back. Once the dagger is drawn and buried, there is no recourse. No going back. No fellow in the firmament—those who hold their place, unassailable and unshaken from motion. Mm. I’m starting to sound like Jericho. That’s frightening. However, the point does stand. Those who abscond from the Order are removed. Not killed. Removed. This does bring me back to my original conundrum… why would they want Warden when they’ve been able to effectively kill Elders this entire time?
