RECEIPT AS OF: 9/09/01
BARISTA ON DUTY: CARAJILLO
RECEIPT FILED AS: C-GRP-04
We arrived at the House of Wisdom, as suggested by St. Augustine. There we met with Al-Khwarizmi and Al-Kindi, who ultimately put the onus of fixing the Spire on us. Apparently, our arrival was no mistake but an act of God. I still firmly believe it was an accidental magical overflow caused by Lucifer touching the taglocked portal. To each their own. Our final stop appears to be in the Discovery Ring. Hopefully, we can be done with this wild goose chase and return to the Flipside soon.
That’s all.
S.O.T.
Al-Khwarizmi: Mm… no. No. See, the Spire’s foundations are entirely misaligned. Asmodeus would need to recalibrate them using precise mathematical equations. That would restore stability to the entire structure.
Al-Kindi: Ah… no. No, it is not that simple. Sure, yes, math can get you a good Spire, perhaps a great Spire, but the Spire itself is not made of simple metals and stones, is it?
Al-Khwarizmi: In what ways?
Al-Kindi: The Spire represents the emotion, the passion, the dreams of those who have died, does it not? To fix the Spire, one would first need to—
Black Coffee: Hi, sorry for interrupting you. St. Augustine said you might know why the Spire is splintering.
Al-Kindi: Ah, yes, in fact, we were just discussing the matter. And who might you be?
Romano: Just a few humans passing by, trying to find our way out of the afterlife.
Al-Kindi: How very strange… Well, perhaps there is our imbalance, Al-Khwarizmi. Living among the dead?
Al-Khwarizmi: It could be. So, perhaps the burden lies on them to fix it.
Galao: I… don’t know if that’s exactly why the Spire is splintering.
Al-Kindi: And what do you put forth? All ideas are welcome here.
Galao: Asmi, er, Asmodeus, she’s been drawing heavily on the power of her Plane to make connections to the world of the living.
Al-Khwarizmi: Why would she do that?
Black Coffee: We… don’t know. I mean, from what one of her Marquis has said, they are trying to make some extra room as the Necropolis is about to expand, probably by another ring.
Al-Kindi: Is that so?
Al-Khwarizmi: That would explain why the underlying geometrical lattice of the Spire seems to be fracturing. Asmodeus is calling on more power than she has.
Al-Kindi: So perhaps the Spire’s splintering is not the result of these humans entering the afterlife but instead the Spire’s subconscious cry for help. I believe you five can be the ones to fix this.
Carajillo: Subconscious? The Spire is… alive?
Al-Kindi: You would be surprised how many things are. Here, a map to the next ring over, the Ring of Discovery. There you can discover perhaps the exact person to help you repair the Spire.
Marocchino: That’s great and all, but we really need to leave this place. Not trying to help fix Asmodeus’ mistakes.
Al-Kindi: There is a plan in place. You can be sure of that. You are willing and active agents, and your help will be rewarded. I am certain of it.
