Heavy stuff lately. Secret’s all worked up—our Secret, not Cold Secret. Unfortunate name overlap, I know. Guess I could call him No. 17. Wait—no, 71. Crap. Whatever. I wasn’t the one who decided to swap the Old Man’s and Secret’s numbers. No. 71’s a wreck—so is No. I, No. 1, No. 2… honestly, just about everyone left from the First Cafe days. Something’s got No. I rattled, and it’s spreading fast. Back in the ’90s, No. I was always a few steps ahead, but now? ...That’s what’s different this time.

Anyway, I’m trying to keep things as normal as possible. And speaking of normal… we’ve got three nasty customers working for Satan: Miss Janos, Miss Fitch, and Miss Cece. That’s where our focus needs to be—forget Satan, forget Eve, forget the Angels, forget the Cold. Just three, relatively speaking, generic customers. The First Boogieman is a bit much, I’ll admit. But Janos and Fitch? They’re really just mislabeled "Mrs."—wouldn’t you agree? I’d love to share our exact plans for dealing with them, but the new Indigos want to keep it under wraps. And honestly, I’ve been doing pretty well with keeping secrets lately.

What I can say is No. 1223’s really got his act together. If I ever started my own Cafe, he’d be one of my first picks. The kid’s brilliant when it comes to magic—especially the more esoteric and, frankly, “taboo” kinds. I’m beginning to see why his family and the Blackwoods never cut ties. Not that it’s a bad thing! Someone on the side of good has to be willing to get their hands a little dirty. Batmen and Supes are great, sure, but sometimes you need a Swamp Thing or a Constantine to keep the balance fully in check. Can’t outright kill a creep like Luthor when you’re supposed to be the “good” guy, right?
