Clue 1: Deep down indeed. This...is actually a pretty difficult puzzle. Instead of being 'down', any possible synonyms?
Clue 2: You gotta keep your head down low...
Clue 3: 'Desire' and 'Despair'. What is Persephone supposed to see which evokes that - and, for the despair, the glare of what exactly?
Answer and Explanation
Answer: Fire And Neon
Explanation: The puzzle is a reference to the Hadestown song 'Chant'. Its first section about 'desire and despair' are a reference to Hades' lines about, fittingly for this receipt, fire and neon.

Okay… wow. I wasn’t expecting the New Guy to be the Loveland Frogman. That was… that was kind of out of left field. But, hey, I guess that’s the Cafe business, huh? His energy is infectious though—I see why you guys would want someone so bright to liven up all of your Dark-ness. Anyway, we managed to send the Nightcrawlers back to the Morningstar through the nearby crack in the boundary lines. They seemed… cooperative, all things considered. Almost as if they knew we were trying to help them. Though, I think we did confirm one thing: they were definitely trying to clean themselves off.
Upon seeing them closer, they were all coated in a thin, shimmery, glossy oil-like substance which totally reeked. It was… like a sharp, metallic odor reminiscent of iron, rust, or maybe even blood. It was very sour, almost vinegary, and… mm… almost musty, too? And the funny thing is, while this substance looked clear, almost iridescent, in certain lights and from certain angles it looked almost pitch black. Hopefully, the Nightcrawlers can find someone in the Morningstar to properly clean them up because neither New Guy nor I could get close enough to really help them out in that regard.
Here's the really interesting part… The REAL Cafe down in Long Beach has gotten a recent influx of reports of a similar substance showing up along the Oregon coast. Same pungent smell and strange texture. Not sure what it means, but if you guys can get the okay from our *, I wouldn’t mind taking the New Guy with me to go check it out. I know it's sort of… I don’t know, “west coast” for what’s supposed to be a Florida Cafe, but that’s why you have the extra help now, right?
