My sources have informed me of a rather unsettling new "fast food" operation brewing beneath the surface. It seems our worst fears have come to pass. Eve’s been busy, and now she’s gathered support from the Court of Angels, a few dozen other Elders, what’s left of Mammon’s cult, and—of course—Satan’s remaining loyal forces.
Strange. Despite everything that’s changed in the last 27 years, I can’t help but feel… nothing ever really changes, does it? Sure, the stakes are higher, but at its core, it’s the same old plot. Eve still wants to tear down the Gates of Hell and unleash the Devil. Fate, Phantom, Wicked, and Secret are lurking, as always, hoping her plan will somehow give them an edge in their bid to conquer the Universe. It’s the same story, different day. Everything is as it was—and perhaps, as it always will be.
So, what now? With Zebuelon and his crew leading a heavenly charge to undo the Universe, time may be running out for us. Still, it’s not as dire as it usually feels. The TriCaD, 4, 5, and 6, assure me that unleashing the Devil isn’t necessarily an immediate death knell for the Universe. It all depends on when, where, and why the Big Bird upstairs decides to hit the reset button. On one hand, we could just… sit back, let the chips fall, and hope things turn out better next time around.
On the other hand… we are the Cafe and Diner.
I’ll brew a fresh pot, and we’ll figure it out from there. My connections are thinning as more and more fall under Eve’s sway, but there’s got to be a few coffee sellers out there who can still lend us a hand. Hell, at this rate, I’d settle for a few good friends.
