After a few days of staking out Lucifer and his crew, I think I’ve got the main bullet points. So—let’s talk Frozen Treats. Lucifer’s got a full-blown operation running in Sacramento, right under Tower Bridge. The place has way more going on than it looks from the outside. I’ve seen a steady flow of humans and demons slipping in and out like clockwork, especially around midnight. There’s a “members only” area in the back, open only to those with VIP passes. That reminds me—he’s got a theme going, too. Like any good cult, he’s using a cover, and Lucifer’s apparently aiming for some kind of underground glam rock indie vibe. He looks straight out of Labyrinth.

As for the Goblin King himself, he shows up around closing time, usually no later than four A.M., with a spotlight practically following him wherever he goes. He’s loving the attention that being in the Flipside brings. And while I’d like to think I stayed hidden from him… I could swear he winked at me last night. A solid sign it was time to get the hell out of there.

From what I could gather before I left, the cult’s got a weird structure. Most of the demons running it are second-rate, glittery types from his sister’s Commonwealth. No one from his inner circle—not even Purson, Beleth, or Vine. Looks to me like Lucifer wants to keep his distance if this thing goes south. And the human cultists? They’re not the usual “yes, Lord Lucifer” types. They’re training in something called—well, hard to make out from a distance, but I think it was “transformational ascension.” Damn if that doesn’t sound suspiciously close to that socio-reengineering stuff Jejune does. No wonder he was scoping out his “competition.”

Next steps, Sunshine? First off, you need a fresh cup of coffee. You’ve gotta catch me up on all this “Gleam” business. I’m worried about you, you know. We all are. But after that? We need to figure out what kind of ascension Lucifer’s looking to pull.
