Well… that was intense. It is always humbling to go toe-to-toe with another warper. It was like a Nolan film, we were fighting and jumping through space, through dimensions. I mean, I’ve read about the other known warpers before like the Ape and Miss. Slon, but actually fighting one of them? Wow.
I… am exhausted.
Of course, his powers are way stronger than mine. I just have boundary-line manipulation abilities thanks to the whole getting trapped in the Otherside ordeal. The Ape, on the other hand, drank the last drops of the primordial soup, granting him immortality and, as he evolved over eons, a whole range of serious Elder powers, most notably his temporal and spatial distortion. I don’t even really know how the Florida Cafe managed to trap him in the Black Tide the first time—and I don’t really know how Leviathan managed to keep him in there as long as he did. I guess it’s only been a few years, but still.
Though, I think I know what might have kept him in there. New “prizes” to find. Luckily, he usually keeps to himself unless there are “prizes” he desires on the line. Once you live long enough, I suppose that’s all that can really matter. Still, he’s one of the more terrifying Elders out and about. Thankfully, he wasn’t explicitly after us… this time. He just saw the Sunkenman breaking the Tide as an opportune time to leave with his newfound loot. Like I said, he probably could have warped out of the Tide at any time, but he wouldn’t have been able to take all of his treasures with him. When we ran into him, he more or less just wanted us out of his hair so he could return to his Congeries in the Middle East.
Well… He doesn’t have hair. Bald. But you get the point. All I know is I need to work on my warping more after a well-deserved break.
