Summary of Receipt
Romano distinguishes between the ‘true’ Sandmen - called Mesoslums - and the ‘Sandman’, Mrs. Helm, that the Second Cafe served back in July. He also questions if they can even be killed, since they might be like the weird ‘race’ of Elders, the Gilzers, and decides to ask Red Eye about these strange ‘races’ of Elders.

Sandman problem, huh? You know, they say the greatest weakness of Sandmen is their propensity toward cardiovascular disease. Well, that and getting their name stolen. Speaking of, didn’t you guys just take out a Sandman a month ago? There are too many things called “Sandmen.” We really need to narrow it down a bit. Which I’ve done. You’re welcome. I looked into it, and Sandman is a colloquial Morningstarian name for these demons. Their more “proper” name is “Mesoslum.” Which, you might be thinking, sounds a lot like Gilzer. No? Just me?
Important question: can a Mesoslum be killed? If the answer is no… is it so unbelievable that the Mesoslum are cut from the same cloth as the weird race of Elders, the Gilzers? I mean, not much is known about Gilzers, right? Also, it’s weird that there’d be a “race” of Elders. Most Elders are very much one-of-a-kind one-offs. And, if I’m right, and Mesoslums are some type of Elder entity—that’d be a dry fire on our end. Can’t exactly go in arrows blazing on something that very literally cannot be killed. The best we could probably settle for is sending it back to the Morningstar.
I’ll see if I can’t dig up any more info on the Mesoslum or even the Gilzers. Very fascinating topic. Not much is known about either of them. Though, considering Red Eye is chummy with the Gilzers, perhaps I should finally meet this mysterious employee who lurks in the shadows. See if I can’t pick her mind a bit about these strange Elder races. Assuming Mesoslums are Elders, of course. Though, I’d settle for an IM chat with her too. Probably less work and more her style.
