I had a little chat with No. 5—partly to help myself get settled down here, but mainly to figure out what the hell went wrong with that service of yours. You don’t usually stab a long-term ally through the chest, right? I won’t spill his secrets—that’s not my place—but from what I’ve gathered, there was no way the service you all put together on the 20th could have succeeded. I’m not even sure it was destined to fail, but—ah, look at me, rambling on like Tonton Felix. My lips aren’t sealed as tightly as his, but—I want to give No. 5 a chance to make this right on his own terms, yes?

Enough fènwa ak dezespwa—we need to start focusing on the bigger picture. Even if Satan wasn’t trying to free his papa from beyond the Gates of Hell, he’s still got an entire human city under his control. We can’t let that stand, and the Agency’s hands are tied at the moment. A perfect job for the Cafe and Diner, no? As No. 1331 pointed out, from here on until we’re ready to move forward, it’s in our best interest to stop writing everything down. While I don’t believe Cece, Fitch, or Janos are spying on us, there are greater forces at play that love nothing more than twisting our words against us.

It’ll take a few weeks to get everyone and everything in place. We cannot afford to fail again, yes? However, No. 1331 believes we won’t need a large team to pull this off. So, they’re going to move forward with the Cafe’s work and take a quick stroll around the newly opened "Black Eden," as they call it. See if we can’t get a step ahead of Willow DeWeaver. Meanwhile, Palm Beach will be working out the church problem, and Astoria… well, I suppose it’s not up to me, or anyone in the Cafe, to say what you all are up to.
