Well, we found where Rach and Jackie have been living. I don’t know if it could have gone better…? But at least we convinced one of them to come back to the seabase with us. To be fair, I don’t think there is anything we could’ve said to Jackie to convince her to have one more go around. I mean, there’s a point of no return, and she’s probably hit it and then some. Who knows, though, right? Sometimes, things look really dark right before the hero remembers that it’s their friends who are their power. I guess in this business, though, it’d be “allies” or something, huh?
Amber: Jackie! Rachel! It’s so good to see you again! I—
Jackie: No.
Amber: I—
Jackie: I’m not doing this anymore, Amber. I can’t. Whatever this is? I’m not interested.
Amber: It’s just one last cup of coffee before the world ends. One last—
Jackie: I hope it finally does. You know, I’ve heard that the world is going to end more times than I can count. It’d be a nice change of pace if it actually did.
Amber: But—
Mikey: C’mon Jackie. This is different. Amber’s really been working on things. It’s not the Cafe—
Jackie: Doesn’t matter what you call it. It’s all the same.
Kyle: Amber has been trying, Jackie.
Rachel: It could bring you some closure, J. What exactly is the plan?
Katherine: Well, right now, we’re just trying to get everyone back together. And then we’ll figure it out altogether!
Jackie: You don’t even have a plan, do you? Seriously?
Amber: It’s not that we don’t have a plan… it’s just, well, the plan is that everyone should have a say in the plan. Right now, we’re working on saving Joy and Warden too—
Jackie: Victoria is gone. Joy? Is gone. That’s the thing, Amber, some people don’t make it out of the Cafe and Diner. They give everything to it. And what do they get in return?
Amber: But we can try.
Rachel: How?
Katherine: Well, I had my entire soul replaced, long story, but there might be a way to use that same theory to bring back Victoria, like actually Victoria. And for Joy, a lot of us have been planning a rescue mission—
Rachel: Who is “us,” anyhow?
Mikey: Everyone. And it’d be great if you’d both tag along, too.
Jackie: No.
Rachel: Okay.
Jackie: Okay? What—
Rachel: Jackie, you know how much I care about you—but you aren’t everything. If everyone is back together for this last cup of coffee, I’m not going to turn them down just so I can hang out with you to steep in your misery. For what it’s worth, I still believe we can save them.
Jackie: You know that’s not true.
Rachel: I don’t. And that’s why I’m willing to go be with our loved ones before the end of… everything.
Jackie: Fine. Go.
Amber: Jackie—
[Kyle grabbed Amber’s shoulder and pulled her away from the door.]
