After further consideration, I believe the only proper course forward is for the Manager—Jericho—to be removed from this Cafe and Diner. Killing a cryptid, a harmless one at that, is bad. Yes. But it is the way in which he chose to kill the cryptid that concerns me. Blight Flame. Fire conjured from his connection to the Wicked. Our connection to the Wicked. That is indefensible and, as H.R. pointed out, will inevitably lead to one or all of us being burned in the future.
Killing the chupacabra wasn’t his only choice in that situation—true. But worse, using Blight Flame was far from his only means of dispatching the chupacabra. Hell, he could’ve utilized any number of his other safer fire spells. I believe he wanted to send a message, and that message is loud and clear: we can no longer trust him. This isn’t to say I believe the Wicked has truly taken hold of Jericho. He can’t. Between the nature of our shared burden and the power the 24th of an 8 provides—we are safe. But to use that safety in such a reckless way? That is why Jericho cannot be trusted.
Naturally, Jericho is deeply entangled within our operations and personal lives. There is no clean way to cut him loose. To ease this transition, I am willing to buy him his own apartment. Tampa, Orlando, Lakeland… whatever he wants. Money may be of concern to him, but it is not to me. He wants an easy way out—here it is. He’ll be close enough that if we should require his talents in dealing with the Dark, we can easily reach him. If this is not favorable, then I would rather leave instead. I will not work with Jericho any further.
That’s final.
Big Guy.
