Summary of Receipt

The three of them attend a dinner hosted by the Society of Nom de Plume - a UK-based group dealing with ‘anachronistic literature’. They’re pretty concerned with the ‘Mechanism’ that they’re trying to assemble. Members mentioned here are: a group of two people both referred to as ‘the Couple’, a quiet girl named ‘Anne’, a strange woman called ‘Rose’, a young woman known as ‘Sarah’, a spry gentleman by the name of ‘Anthony’, and an eccentric character dubbed ‘Xander’. (duck: do you have any idea how annoying it was to find synonyms of ‘named’) However, ‘Will’ (William Myerscough) didn’t appear. Anyway, when the Couple took the pieces of the Mechanism they had, the lights went out and they - and the Mechanism - disappeared. It was very likely Unseen and Unheard, aka Gemini. Big Guy suspects there’s a traitor in Nom de Plume working for Umbra.

Well, that was certainly a night to remember, as advertised. I, along with the Barista and New Guy, attended the Cannon Beach Archeologist Society’s dinner party along with the Professor. Of course, this was not an event open to the public, nor was it actually a meeting of an Archeologist Society. No. It was a meeting of the Society of Nom de Plume. A UK-based group well-versed in the supernatural with a particular interest in anachronistic literature. As I understand it.

In attendance at this strange dinner party was a mysterious pair who primarily went by the conjoined name of “The Couple,” a quiet girl who I believe went by the name of “Anne,” a rather strange woman by the name of “Rose,” a spry gentleman by the name of “Anthony,” a young woman who went by “Sarah,” and an eccentric character under the name “Xander.” No signs of “Will,” though. Were you really expecting him to make an appearance here, Manager? In any case, the meeting and presence of the Society in Cannon Beach are heavily tied to this “Mechanism” they are working on assembling.

However, the party went awry. Shocking, I know. While pleasantries were being had, The Couple took the pieces of the Mechanism to put them away for safekeeping. All-in-all I would say we were in the dark for no longer than a minute. Though none of us heard the assailant, the Couple and pieces of the Mechanism were gone when the lights came back on. I think it goes without saying, this mysterious kidnapper was both Unseen and Unheard. Gemini. Which confirms Umbra’s interest in this “Mechanism.” It also possibly indicates a traitor among the Society’s ranks. Though, that is hardly our problem to deal with. Considering “Palm Beach” no longer exists on any maps, we have a week or less to find Gemini before they can return to Florida with the Mechanism pieces. Assuming there is a Palm Beach to return to.

That’s all. Big Guy.
