…Why…? I… no. That wasn’t him. He wouldn’t—maybe it was the Wicked? Maybe— I don’t know. I don’t want to believe he’d do something like that. I don’t…

S.O.T.

Big Guy: Target spotted.

H.R.: Woah—that’s a big chupacabra!

Payroll: No kidding. What’s that thing been eating?

Big Guy: Looks like a Hauntaurhound. No wonder it’s been freaking out the locals.

H.R.: So… we bump it up to Mocha and regroup?

Big Guy: Not necessary. The size of a beast does not dictate its temperament. Now—if we were a herd of goats, I’d be a bit more concerned.

Manager: Oi… big bloke, innit?

Payroll: [The Manager]! You actually showed.

Manager: Figured you lot could use the help.

Big Guy: It will be appreciated. We need to approach slowly, give the chupacabra time to warm up to us. Still—anything could startle it. If that happens, I may need your help with restraining it, [Manager].

Manager: Right.

[The Floridia Cafe and Diner slowly approached the monstrous chupacabra. As they neared the beast, the Manager’s cell phone began to ring. Perez backed up, poised to charge.]

Manager: Should’ve put that on silent, eh?

Big Guy: It’s alright—just be prepared to intercept—

[Perez charged toward Payroll. As he bounded forward, the Manager pushed out his hand.]

Manager: Ol’guk am’alf arefin-fina.

[A bolt of black fire shot out of the Manager’s hand, striking Perez through the chest. The black flame burst into a vibrant yellow as it consumed the chupacabra—twisting and distorting its form until nothing was left but a pile of ashes.]

Big Guy: WHAT THE HELL DID YOU DO THAT FOR!?

Manager: He was coming right at ‘er. You told me to intercept, not her—

Payroll: What the hell is wrong with you?! I can handle myself!!

H.R.: What-what did you do to it?

Manager: Blight Flame. I panicked, alright? As if—

[Big Guy threw the Manager up against a wall.]

Big Guy: You’re not the only one who can call out Blight Flame.

Manager: You’re going to kill me over a dog—a cryptid?

Big Guy: As if your life is worth any more than a dog.

[Big Guy threw the Manager to the ground. Big Guy left the CaDCom Transcription Range.]

Payroll: What were you thinking…?

Manager: ‘S not all fun and games, choice? The dog could’ve been—

Payroll: What? Working for the Dark? Are you brain-damaged? Seriously—it was a chupacabra. It wasn’t going to hurt me.

Manager: How would you know? How would you—

Payroll: Shut up. Just… stop talking. We’ll see you back at the Cafe.

Manager: What? I’m on my own to get back?

Payroll: Gives you time to think.
