I know that demon. The bellhop. How did I miss it earlier? Well, it’d help if any of them would have outright said he was a four-foot-tall frogman. I know that he is because he has to be. There is no other Maydaian demon who is that friendly and speaks with such an odd cadence. Not to mention he seems to be familiar with No. 44A. Yes. It must be Mr. Loveland, the New Guy of the Floridian Cafe.

Now, what in the hell is he doing working for Dolos in the middle of New Mexico? We last saw Mr. Loveland 10 months ago when we had to part ways to keep him safe from Umbra and the Dark. I don’t exactly know how he ended up in this situation, though it isn’t terribly surprising. Mr. Loveland has been known to stumble into new and exciting adventures. I could see him stumbling upon the Hotel and ending up as Dolos’ employee purely by chance. Or perhaps Dolos sought him out specifically. Though Loveland is not particularly strong, he does have a rather unique talent for being an exceptional polyglot. He can learn any language in under an hour.

However, this absolutely confirms that Dolos’ Hotel is messing with the memories or perceptions of its guests. While No. 44A can be self-absorbed at times, she would never forget Loveland unless powerful magic is involved. I doubt this information would be of any particular use, as it seems an unshakable veil is drawn over all three of them. Not only our employees but the other rulers of the Otherworld as well. I don’t particularly envision Odin partaking casually in a continental cricket breakfast. Obviously, some sort of ploy is taking place here, but what? Why would Dolos want Odin, Takiyasha, and presumably the Mórrígan in the same place? And how and why does Loveland, of all people, factor in?
