DINER RECEIPT
RECEIPT NUMBER: TIS06
RECEIPT DATE: 12 22 1988
MANAGER TITLE: #8
RECEIPT NOTES:

Glad you all liked your gifts. I’ll admit, I spent the most time on #64’s present. I’m not much of a model builder myself, but hey—always fun to pick up new skills. :) Now, you might be thinking, Gee, #8, did you just grab a random card from a spare deck and an old candle from your cupboard for the other gifts?

Well… yeah. But the meaning? That’s the important part, not the source. Though, fair warning—the deck in the back is now short an Ace. Which, however minuscule, gives you a bit of a mathematical edge. If you remember it’s missing an Ace, anyway :)

Sad to see Lucy head back, but we can’t keep a Prince tied down forever, can we? Even if we could, it wouldn’t do much to maintain the balance. I’m sure she’ll visit, though. Despite the tension, it’s clear she and Baltz get along. Honestly, I’d be surprised if she stays put until the new year. Can’t keep her hands off that wily Frenchman.

Speaking of the new year—big plans for 1989. Lotta big-picture stuff I want to work out. Mostly about the first city of humankind, if you catch my drift. A bit of “pleasant” comfort food to carry us through the rest of winter.

Of course, there’s this persistent idea floating around that I won’t be around to see it through. Personally? I don’t put much stock in futures passed. But just in case Fate and the Cold sweep me away into their icy undertow, I’ve left you all a set of notes to follow :)
