Well… it's something. So far, our efforts to trace the fragments of the Mechanism have been hit or miss… mostly miss. But H.R. is pretty confident that if we all just enter into the Astral Plane with her, it'd give us enough of an edge to find the missing pieces and locate the Dark. Speaking of, it seems like they are still in the dark regarding our bluff. Mm… The Astral Plane… I've certainly got some history with that place. Not "bad" history, but not anything good either. It's… strange.

The Astral Plane is this sort of surreal, endless expanse of shifting colors and abstract forms. It's a place where thoughts, emotions, and dreams manifest as tangible objects in a hypnogogic, erratic current. It's a dream. Literally, it's where we go when we dream, at least parts of it. The lack of physical laws, along with the endless entities that call that place home, make it dangerous to traverse consciously. When you're sleeping, you're insulated to a certain degree. But having your conscious mind weaving through that nightmare soup… it can cause certain entities to cling to you in real waking life.

Except… I've never really had to worry about any of that. I don't know why, but it's like I'm… not there. Never there. It's like I'm dead or something. I've never been able to affect or be affected by the Astral Plane. Kinda a double-edged sword, huh? If I could interact with the Astral Plane like everyone else, I could probably advance my magic by leaps and bounds. But it also means I never have to worry about Fear Eaters, Shadowfolk, or any other non-local entities trying to latch onto me. Plus, I've never had a nightmare in my life!

…Never had any real dreams either though. Just a blank white room. Always a blank white room. Damn. I should really get that looked into at some point, huh?
