DINER RECEIPT
RECEIPT NUMBER: BKN06
RECEIPT DATE: 9 30 19XX
MANAGER TITLE: BALTIMORE
RECEIPT NOTES:

Au temps pour moi. I apologize. I wanted to tell you both sooner—I did. But… well, I don’t have a good excuse, do I? Maybe it’s something deeply ingrained in me, a feeling that I’ve somehow stepped into the past and that any wrong move could alter my future. Our future. Foolish, I know—I’m not in the past. I’m here, in the present. And as for the future? It’s still very much ours to decide. I intend to keep it that way.

As for our month? Wonderfully successful. We served not one but two customers ahead of our official opening, and yes, we even hired a new employee, albeit remotely for now. Looking forward, we have another interview scheduled for next month. I can’t help but feel the weight of the boulder bearing down on me—as though I’ve pushed it up this hill once before. But that’s just it, isn’t it? Sisyphus was condemned to monotony, repetition, Fate. I, on the other hand, am rather eager to meet Ms. Saturn, and perhaps offer her a place in our Cafe and Diner. Why bother with the same old boulder again?

As for the other business we have next month, we still need to serve Mr. Andros and Mrs. Berkley. Mr. Andros is a bit more of a priority, so we’ll start with him. If there’s time, we can attend to Mrs. Berkley. She’s one of the few customers from mon amour’s region of Ottawa that she doesn’t particularly care for—a rather unsettling customer with quite a bad attitude.

Looking beyond next month, as you’re both well aware… there’s still something missing from the Cafe and Diner. Something I can’t even bring myself to type for fear it might draw all the wrong attention. But if it were easy, it wouldn’t be worth doing, now would it?

Yours, hopefully soon,

The month tomorrow prior to Pompilius
