Clue

Hover over the clues if you require!
Clue 1: Not exactly 'hotel'. Similar spelling.
Clue 2: What about a Hottel, on the 22nd of March?
Clue 3: Heard of a Book Cipher before? Similar concept.

Answer and Explanation

Answer: She Needs Blood
Explanation: Hotel, was misheard as Hottel, also known as the Guy Hottel Incident on March 22 1950. Using the FBI's report as a book cipher and counting the words continuously, and going backwards for negative, you get “She needs blood.”

Blood. She needs blood.

Moreover, it would seem she has a Zulu in her head. I’m not sure if it’s some remnants of Dingane or if it’s Shaka himself. More likely, it’s Shaka—he would know he could grab my attention with a Guy Hottel memo book cipher. Well, now we know what No. 512 needs to regenerate, blood. Unsure what type of blood to give her, we opted to give her a small sample of the Rougarou’s blood in case it had to be from the same source that originally attacked her. After having her drink, the vial of blood collected by No. 4, her injuries healed rapidly over the next 20 or so minutes before she eventually woke up—practically without a scratch. Well, a new scratch, anyway; I don’t think she can heal the scars the Zulu’s left her with.

Upon waking up, No. 512 said she felt “off.” Almost as if she had a “feeling” that wasn’t her own. Not quite a memory, like when she consumes flesh, but a vague recollection of something almost nostalgic. She couldn’t place it as an exact memory, but she said she could “feel” a sense of anger, fear, and resentment. A lush and misty forest slowly consumed by fire and brimstone. The smell of old paper and fresh ink. Then just rage. And then, I suppose, the sensation faded. She said that it was hard to put into words but that she now sort of understood why Mrs. Brown did what she did. Mrs. Brown was “consumed by the fires of hatred.”

Though No. 512 never had the Rougarou’s exact memories, we speculate that she must have had her feelings or emotions in some way. Moreover, No. 512 was willing to subject herself to a few more gruesome tests. It seems that with the taste of blood, she is now able to regenerate much quicker and without having to enter a stasis state. I fear, in part, we’ve been tricked into continuing the Zulu’s initial experiments, but… if it means No. 512 is more stable now, I suppose it is worth it in the end. However, I believe the black blood she was injected did not come from a “common” source in the Necropolis… Something a bit further up the Spire.
