DINER RECEIPT
RECEIPT NUMBER: CCAD03
RECEIPT DATE: 9 4 19XX
MANAGER TITLE: TRUSTED ASSOCIATE
RECEIPT NOTES:

Alright, I’ve gone over my rather extensive list of potential hires, and I’ve narrowed it down to three—actually, the same three I’ve had a good feeling about from the start: Sahir Bali, Marcus Douglas, and Madeline Saturn. I was considering Daniel Hamilton as well, but I suspect he’s rather busy in his home state and wouldn’t be comfortable making the move all the way to the west coast. And the best part, mon nouvel ami? I’ve already arranged meetings with all three. Just you, me, and each of them. Wonderful, no?

Now, before you start pouting and sulking and shaking your head, trying to claim that it’s still too early to hire anyone, let me remind you of something you wrote yourself: “Additionally, I know you are getting antsy, my trusted associate. You want us to start hiring new employees right away. While the time is not right, I would be more than willing to meet with some of your chosen candidates.” I understand that when you wrote that, you may have been feeling sentimental—it was the end of our first month, after all—but, ah, you put it in writing—a rookie mistake.

Mr. Bali is eager to meet with you, and I’ve penciled him in for the 12th of this month. It’s less of a job interview and more of a meet-and-greet. He’s got a habit of knowing everyone in the Coffee Trade, and when I told him what we were working on, he jumped at the chance to get to know you before we get “big.” Ms. Saturn won’t be in L.A. until the 15th or so of next month. She’s cautious about being near the west coast due to the S&P’s proximity, but she’s itching to spit in their salty faces—and I think you two would certainly get along in that regard. Lastly, there’s Mr. Douglas. Elusive as ever. He won’t be available until the 13th of November, but I see that as a good thing. It gives you about a month to “recover” from each interview. I know how quickly your social battery drains, nouvel ami. Heavy is the chest of the one wearing the “owner” pin, eh?
