We had a, well, um, a strange customer come into the Cafe today. Literally showed up at the Cafe. It was Robert. And he looked, well, worse than usual. We were right that Umbra did not take Robert’s stunt last month well. From what he told me, Robert nearly killed him, destroying all of his backup bodies and torturing his final remaining body. Robert was literally falling apart at the seams, so I took pity on him and helped sew him back up as best as possible.
It seems like Robert wants to help us, mostly to get revenge on Umbra but also because he’s genuinely scared of what Umbra is planning. I didn’t let him stay in the Cafe, obviously. And with all of his backup bodies destroyed, he really needs to stay at his museum to not draw the attention of tourists. Though… I don’t know. Maybe he could be of help? And at the very least, I feel like we should help him, right? I think it might be best if we could find a way to get him back to the Everdark, away from Umbra. Of course, we’d need to figure out how to remove him from his body.
At the same time, I don’t trust Robert. None of us trust Robert. And how can we trust him after the stunt he pulled last month? He wanted to become a Prince of Hell. Putting him back in the Otherside might not be the best idea. But leaving him trapped inside his only remaining body just doesn’t feel right. That’s almost a fate worse than death. Maybe… maybe we can look into a separation spell for Shades and see if he’s interested. Or… we could exchange that information for Robert’s knowledge of Umbra’s plans. This definitely feels like a group decision, so I’d like to know whatever one else thinks about it first.
