Password Types
Common Knowledge
Common Knowledge passwords require common knowledge of the Cafe and Diner. It could be customer's name, any Diner Speak related things, or even beverages. These puzzles will require you to know a little bit of the Cafe and Diner, and it will get easier as you go along.
Ambiguous Knowledge
Ambiguous Knowledge passwords require inference as the knowledge used is not obvious and stated, and is probably a little bit harder. You'll need better knowledge of the Cafe and Diner, and have good knowledge about the lore.
Deep Knowledge
Deep Knowledge passwords require important and very extreme lore. It could be the employee's names, or vague clues which hides secrets. These puzzles will be much harder, but with sufficient logic and lore, you can connect the dots.
Trivia
Trivia passwords require you to know your servers. Each server will have a certain trivia topic, which is something they would like/take interest in. You can check the employee page, or read more reports, to find a common trend between their interests.
Picture Clue
Picture Clue will always have a picture there, and passwords require you to look at the image and find the clue hidden. It could be photo-manipulation, or ciphers hidden in plain sight.
Logic Puzzle
Logic Puzzle passwords require logic thinking. It could be simple math, ciphers, codes, or connecting the dots in the clue.
Word Puzzle
Word Puzzle passwords require you to use word-play to solve the puzzle. It might be puns, or words that are out of order or manipulated in different ways.
Previous Receipt
Previous Receipt passwords are based on information found in the previous receipt of a Receipt Index ID chain. For example, CAD01 would be the previous receipt to CAD02, even if there are other receipts between them.
Different Receipt
Different Receipt passwords are based on information found in the other receipts within in an Archive. The only receipt that won’t contain the information is the Previous Receipt, as that has it’s own password type. For example, CAD01 would be a different receipt from CAD03.
Different Archive
Different Archive passwords are based on information found in other Archives. Typically these will be nearby Archives but they can pull from any of the open Archives on the site. No passwords will reference unavailable Archives.
Courtesy Of
Courtesy Of passwords are used exclusively for CC-Receipts. They will always be the first name of the person who provided the Cafe Chat Receipt. Nicknames take preference over legal names.
Cafe Chat
Cafe Chat passwords are passwords that require information from a nearby Cafe Chat receipt. In most cases they will share the same Receipt Index ID. For example CC-CADA will probably have required information for C-CAD01 if it is a Cafe Chat password.
Complexity
Complexity passwords are from our reoccurring customer Complexico’s various games. These puzzles, from his game show, are difficult, unfair, and sometimes uses various password types all together. You will have to think outside the box extensively to beat him.
Diner Diner
Unless you're looking at receipts from Update 1-10, Diner Diner passwords are presented without a hint. The information to solve it can be found within their own Archives, but not everytime. Keep out for strange things, like weird source code, or strange references.
Tips
On behalf of all of us, we have some tips to give you that might help you through your Cafe and Diner journey.
- Google is always your friend, but you'll need to find a good way to phrase your search. Not everything you see there can be searched up directly, and you might need to rephrase it in your own way.
- Generally, you'll know the password when you see it, except in maybe a few cases.
- Passwords will generally always have to do with the content of the receipt, except some receipts. This way, you will get a feel for what you're searching for.
- If you feel like you're on the wrong track, you probably are. Don't overthink everything too much.
- Remember to note anything weird in receipts. Anything weird you see could be a password, puzzle, or a hidden clue for the future!
- Note down all transcripts, and answers you get. Every transcript is important, and you might need answers from other archives' transcripts.
- Ctrl F is your best friend. Search for information, and you might just get your answer.
