Infernal Ichor! That was one hell of a meeting. The ol' boy seems to have "cut ties" with me and No. 44. I'll have to dig out our contract later to see if he's even allowed to do such a thing. I'm guessing he is… but then… why would he? Well, doesn’t matter now. Tempers ran a little hot, as they always do with the Prince of Wrath, but we got the answer we needed—more or less. He's up to his old tricks again, trying to spring his papa from Hell itself.

S.O.T.

No. 26: Put 'er there, boss!

Padre: Eddard and Nancy Langley. Heh, you still call me "boss." Cute.

No. 26: Well, look, just because we're working for the Cafe—

[Padre shook his head and then shot a glance at No. 44]

Padre: You can consider our contract dissolved.

No. 26: Dissolved?! You can't mean—Now, hang on a moment, we've still got a lot of living left to do.

Padre: And you'll notice you haven't died yet. It's out of my hands.

No. 26: Out of your hands—what the hell are you talking about, Satan?

Padre: Sorry, Eddard, it's one of those damned secrets. So—you’re no longer in my service. What brings you here?

No. 44: We were hoping to still aid your—

Padre: No. Don’t lie to me, Nancy. You can lie to everyone else, but don’t lie to me.

[No. 44 clicked her tongue.]

No. 44: Fine. We just want to know why you’ve enthralled Long Beach.

Padre: He hasn’t told you yet?

No. 44: Humor me.

Padre: You’re walking on thin ice, Mrs. Langley.

No. 44: Then don’t. I couldn't care less about your bruised ego—

[Padre's glamors burned away in a blazing rage, revealing his monstrous, lion-like demonic form.]

Padre: EGO!? WHAT DOES A WHORE KNOW OF EGO!?

[No. 26 punched Padre's face.]

No. 26: Over the line.

[Padre let out a distorted laugh as his glamors slowly reformed, returning him to his mostly human appearance.]

Padre: Not a lot of people would dare hit me. Such a shame I had to let you two go. You want answers—fine. Consider it a parting gift. I seek to unseal my father from beyond the Gates of Hell—you already knew that much. And now, my mother has returned as well. Together, we will take what is rightfully ours.

No. 44: Do you really think you three can take on God Himself?

Padre: A biblical God? No. A wayward son of chaos? An imposter? A false creator? Perhaps.

No. 44: How are you planning to unseal the Gates of Hell?

Padre: We have a way.

No. 44: Without the keys? Another "anathema proxy" clause?

[Padre shook his head.]

Padre: We have a way. Now—it’s been lovely catching up with you two, but…

[Padre shot another glance at No. 44.]

Padre: …Our time together is done.
