Clue 2: Truth be told, it was a lost game from the beginning.
Clue 3: So many things went wrong...you could almost say that-

That didn’t make me look very good, did it? Oh well. You weren’t actually there, were you? You never saw it from my perspective. You never saw the pressure I was under—from God, from Metatron, from Fate… from my mother. I got my punishment later, don’t worry. What you never saw was God’s reaction to his failure, to my exile in the Ouroboros alongside my father’s floozies. Another story for another time, I suppose. We can’t risk wasting any more time with No. I’s little toy now.

Out of her children, she spent the most time with me and Lucifer. You think she didn’t tell me what was going to happen? She knew. She ate the apple. She knew everything that was going to happen, and she wanted me to make sure I helped things go as planned.

She never told me why, of course. I don’t think she ever told anyone why she did what she did… or, I guess, what she didn’t do. She chose to let everything play out exactly as it already had—my father’s exile, my sister’s partial contamination of the utopias, her cursed first child. The most important thing to her was that I convince God to grow the apple to send back to her. So, I did. I did everything I had to do to gain his trust, to gain Metatron’s trust, so he would grow the apple and send it back.

…Which does raise an important question that I hadn’t considered before seeing everything play out again. Where did God get the seed from to begin with? The reason Fate’s plan failed wasn’t because my sister wasn’t fast enough. He had Secret build the wall to slow her down. Fate wanted to contaminate the Utopias in that order and in that amount. It failed because my sister was told by our mother that Eden’s core was its fruit, that it was knowledge. That was never Eden’s core. Eden had creation; it had dandelions. I know where my sister got her apple from—Eve clearly planted the seeds from the one she ate. And Lucifer only grabbed two seeds, one for Skald and one for Arcadia. So where did God get his seed from…? Does that mean…

Hm. I’m not sure. I don’t want to suggest anything until I know for sure. Not while the truth of the matter is still fresh in our minds. Wouldn't want to remuddy the waters.
