The assault on Eden had already begun.

Lucifer and the Serpent took shelter behind a massive tree, watching as the Pale clashed with Demiurge’s creations. Abaddon led the charge, his blade slicing through the Pale in wide, graceful arcs. Uriel and Michael held the line beside him, their weapons shimmering with the light of creation. The Pale was relentless, advancing inch by inch, but the combined might of Demiurge’s three reflections held them at bay.

"What now?" the Serpent asked, panic edging his voice.

"We need to find the core of Eden."

"What’s that?"

"It’s… I think it’s a fruit. An apple."

The Serpent slithered up the tree they had taken refuge behind and returned with a bright red apple coiled in his tail.

"Like this?"

Lucifer’s eyes lit up as she took the apple, feeling the core of Eden stir within it. A faint pulse of the knowledge Eve had brought to Eden emanated from the crimson fruit. She tore the apple in half and carefully extracted two small, round seeds. "These," she said, showing the Serpent, "are the seeds of Eden."

"And what are we going to do with them?"

"We’re going to plant them in Skald and Arcadia."

The Serpent nodded, glancing back at the fierce battle raging around them. In a moment of chaos, Lucifer grabbed the Serpent and flew out of Eden, racing toward Skald. They arrived in the bustling kingdom with no time to spare, and Lucifer hurried to the mighty Engine at its heart.

"Here," she said, placing one of the seeds into the Serpent’s tail. "Plant this near the Engine, where it can spread to everything."

The Serpent slithered down to the base of the great Engine, burying the seed deep within the earth. Meanwhile, Lucifer thrust her hand into the heart of the Engine, pulling out two glowing embers of pure fire.

"The soul of Skald’s fire," she murmured, determination etched on her face. "Come on! We have to get to Arcadia!"

The Serpent wound his way back up her arm, and the two flew toward Arcadia. But when they arrived, they found the last mortal settlement completely concealed behind a massive wall. Lucifer tried to break through but found herself powerless against it. "Damn it!"

"What’s going on?" the Serpent asked, noticing the sky above Arcadia beginning to change.

"We’re running out of time," Lucifer said breathlessly. "The last pure water of Arcadia—it’s in the town well. But this wall… I can’t break it. It was made by an Archon."

"But you’re almost an Archon, aren’t you?"

Lucifer shook her head, frustration and desperation mounting. She looked up at the darkening sky of Arcadia, a final thread pulling tight in her mind. With a surge of resolve, she flew as high as she could, tearing at the boundary between Arcadia and the realm Above. A brilliant bolt of light shot down, shattering the wall that protected the settlement.

Lucifer descended swiftly, gathering two scoops of water, planting the final seed, and igniting the first fire.

As she turned to return to Skald and Eden to complete her task, everything stopped—and there was a resounding first and final big bang.
