She was perfect.
As beautiful as the morning star, she looked just like her mother and father, with blonde hair and blue eyes. Their final child, Lucifer, had a crown of luxurious feathers like a peacock, and a long tail that trailed behind her like a flowing dress of pure starlight.
Shortly after Lucifer was born, a brilliant bolt of light shot across the soft blue sky of Eden. Demiurge stood before Eve and Abraxas, his eyes duller and dimmer than they had ever seen. They were the eyes of a weary, war-torn general, tired of the unending strife. His hands were empty, his arms outstretched to hold their new child.
"Look what you've done," Demiurge whispered as he rocked the Archons' baby.
Lucifer, unlike her siblings, would not be raised in Skald, but in Eden instead. And unlike her siblings, for whom Eve was only around for a few fleeting months at a time, Eve was by Lucifer's side day and night. Though she tried to remain humble, Lucifer couldn't help but feel she was the most cherished of all their children—the child who was not meant to be, the child unfated, born of a love that hummed deep within the whispers of creation itself.
As she grew, she split her time between Eden, Skald, and Arcadia, feeling it only right to share her light with all corners of the Universe. In Eden, she helped her mother tend the garden, ensuring its creations did not overwhelm it. In Skald, she helped rule the Kingdom in Satan's absence. And in Arcadia, she aided Demiurge in pushing back against the scourge of the Pale. Lucifer saw the Universe not for what it was, but for what it could be. She saw the flames of Skald's passion, the depths of Arcadia's waters, and the blooms of Eden's creations.
From Demiurge, she learned much about the creation of the Universe and his plans for the Utopias. She learned that the Universe was not always this way. Long ago, Eden, Skald, and Arcadia were completely separate. Eden provided the powers of Creation, for the Skald to shape, and Arcadia to use. Lucifer couldn't help but feel that the intended separation would have been unfair. When she brought this up to Demiurge, he assured her that separation was necessary. The world her parents fled from was one of overlapping powers, Great Houses, as he called them, each fighting for sole control over the others, ending in a great void of chaotic nothingness.
Lucifer often dreamed her father's dream—a unified Universe bound together in harmony. She frequently discussed such a future with her father. While she could tell he too wanted this, he seemed hesitant. He had grown old and fearful of further change. The stability of the current world was a blessing to him. Yes, things could change further—but Abraxas saw too many contingencies, too many possible outcomes. Lucifer did not. She saw only what her father had once seen: a unified Universe. Unfortunately for her…
Nothing ever really changes.
