"Good morning, Eve. I hope you slept well?"
Eve let out a yawn in response as she sat at the table, her head resting against the polished wooden surface. Abraxas chuckled, the sound warm and rich, as he walked over to the small stove in the corner of his kitchen and began to boil water for a pot of coffee. He looked down at his hands. They were strong, yes, but they were also calloused, cracked, and bruised. Abraxas took a deep breath, letting his body relax as he waited for the water to boil.
"You know, Eve, I must confess something to you," Abraxas said, leaning against the counter.
"Hm?" Eve murmured, lifting her head slightly.
"I was beginning to think I'd never have company."
"What about Demiurge?"
"He beckons me to Arcadia, or elsewhere, from time to time, yes. When he calls upon my company, it is always for a reason. An agenda. Never only to visit."
"Well, I hope I am good company."
"More than good. You are wonderful, Eve."
Eve smiled softly, like a dandelion in bloom. "You know, I have to admit, I'm starting to like this place."
"Is that so?"
"Yes. It's… different from what I remember of Eden, though not too dissimilar. The air here is more… bitter. Or, sharp?"
"Ah. Yes. Well, I suppose there is still much to be done before it is perfect," Abraxas said, placing a mug of steaming coffee down in front of Eve.
"Oh, no. I like it. I love it, actually. Each breath feels… new. Fresh. Like I'm alive. Besides, perfection is overrated."
"Is that so?"
"I'm beginning to think so," Eve replied, taking a sip of her coffee.
Abraxas couldn't help but smile as he watched Eve. A part of him wished that she could stay in Skald with him forever. That Demiurge would be unable to restore Eden and that she would have to stay here. After all, it would be nice to have some company. Someone to have a cup of coffee with every morning. Someone to discuss ideas with. To talk with. To build with.
"Are you… busy today, Eve?"
Eve looked around at her foreign surroundings, partly in bewilderment. "Not particularly. Why?"
Abraxas pulled out notebook after notebook, stacking them in a neat pile before sliding them across the table toward Eve. "These are my journals. My plans. Everything I want to build… all of it is written down in these pages. If—if there's something in there that you would maybe want to help me build, we could…"
Eve cracked open the first journal, and her eyes quickly lighting up with excitement. "Absolutely, Abraxas!" She flipped through page after page of Abraxas' meticulous notes, pausing every few pages to read something in particular out loud. The morning faded into evening as the two Archons eagerly discussed the countless ideas Abraxas had penned.
Abraxas and Eve spent the next day walking through the dense pine barrens of Skald together, planning out their perfect Utopia.
