Perfect...

Things had not been perfect in Eden since Hope was born. The house had changed. It no longer felt like a home. It felt empty. Dark. Eve could not shake the feeling that something was very wrong. Every day she found herself waking up later and later—as if she had spent the whole night before in a daze. She had lost track of how long it had been since she last saw Adam. Every day Hope cried out for her father, and every day Eve tried to comfort her. Eve tried to tell her everything would be okay.

"What's wrong? Aren't you happy?" Adam asked one day as he entered the nursery, his mask a grotesque skull. Eve stood in front of the crib, holding Hope close to her chest.

"What is happening? Why is Eden… rotting?" Eve asked, her voice trembling.

"To rot, is to be born a new. What did you expect, bringing a new life into the world?"

"What—What do you mean?"

"How do you think Entropy reached the state it is in? Before the Great Houses, before the Seven, before the undying Archons, there was peace. Silence. But, as you have learned, peace is boredom. Perfection is… boring. In perfection, there are no secrets to share. But Hope? She is wonderful, isn't she? A little mycelium… a little rot. She will consume this Utopia and bring with her something altogether new." Adam reached out to take Hope from her mother.

Eve instinctively jerked away from Adam's touch.

"…Who… are you, Adam?"

"That, my dear, is a secret."

In the blink of an eye, Adam vanished. The house around Eve began to collapse. Floorboards gave way, sending her tumbling downwards. Eve held tightly onto Hope, bracing for impact as they both hit the ground with a thud. Dandelion pappi filled the air, turning black and creating a thick, sickening haze. As the pappi touched the ground, new, cold ideas sprung to life in Eve's mind—ideas that were no longer her own. Everything in Eden was slowly sinking into an umbral sludge—

A brilliant bolt of light tore through the darkening sky of Eden. Demiurge stood before her, eyes blazing with a fury she had never seen. They were the eyes of bloodthirsty Kaos, burning with a rage that could consume worlds. In his hand was the massive, twisted metal of his father's hammer, raised to smash Eve's Hope into an endless storm of particles.

"What have you done?"
