Uhm. I guess I could give it a shot, yeah? I mean, like, here's the thing, I'm not actually an Augur. Not born one, anyway. The Cult of the Golden Flame molded me into an Augur. It… they… I don't like doing "Augur Stuff." In part because it brings back the memories of what was done to me… but more so because I was only ever taught how to divine by flame. Flame gazing is usually a pretty tame, if a bit strainful, auguring technique… unless you have a spark of the Wicked's Blight inside you.

Obviously, the Manager and the Big Guy understand the danger that could be unleashed if I try to flame gaze. It'd be a direct invitation for the Wicked to stoke his Blight within us—within me—further. Worse, we'd be inviting not just one Cold Elder but two into our space; Wicked and Fate. Even if I am able to see past what is hidden here, there's no guarantee that it wouldn't be manipulated in an effort to fully forge the three of us into the Wicked's perfected vessel. Fate tends to do that, y'know?

I mean, I could try without a flame… but I don't really know what I'm doing. It doesn't come naturally to me. I know the Manager said he would keep me safe if I did use a gazing flame… but I don't think he realizes how bad the Blight's grasp on him is, too. It's needlessly risky. On the other hand, there is something seriously off here. It'd be best if we at least tried to figure it out in addition to finding the lost puppy. It's what the Cafe does! And considering the whole… nightmarish vibe… I think the Manager's right. This might be Umbra's doing.

Peace, love, and Joy!
