THE OWNER
Well, it’s certainly been quite a month, hasn’t it? Between all of our recent receipts, I fear I’m starting to see red, and I’m sure you are all seeing it, too. As #62 mentioned yesterday, tomorrow will be a big day for the Cafe and Diner. Assuming everything goes well, we can finally shake off the final vernal shackles of spring and enter what will hopefully be a very profitable and productive summer. If we play our cards right, we might even be rid of that horrid Open Doors Church once and for all.
I assume everyone knows what still must be done in preparation for tomorrow. If not, double-check with #53 or #62, as they are somewhat jointly heading tomorrow’s service. Though, make no mistake, this is entirely #53’s masterwork, and I think we’ll be pleasantly surprised by his piping hot cup of coffee. Though a gentle reminder for all, and especially #53, there is no such thing as a failure at the Cafe and Diner—only half successes and better. Regardless of what happens tomorrow, we will gain some new advantages in this overly competitive Greater Los Angeles Area coffee market. I am certain of that.
I suppose that just leaves me with the preparations for the month to come. Last I heard, Mrs. Pleasant was still recovering from her scrap with Mrs. Aka. Though, it is almost certain that Mrs. Middletown will make her move sooner than later for control of Padre’s empire, and she’ll need to knock Mrs. Pleasant out completely for that to happen. And… should Mrs. Pleasant be in peril, well, I fear that it may turn out to be a colder summer in Long Beach than expected. Beyond that, Augustine et al. are still hoping for a sinful syzygy, and we’ll need to stop that. As for Pleasant and her troubles? We can get involved or let them sort it out… depending on how the wind blows.
