I wasn't sure which receipt to file this under. On the one hand, it is the fruits of my labor for Shill's "Operation Greenout." On the other, much bloodier hand, I tested out my new demonic disruption field on Mr. Higden. Or, I suppose, the "orb" that channels Satan Hauntaurskald's blood into a tangible pseudo-cryptid form. Or… something like that. Look, I won't claim I understand how Satan makes the weather in the Hauntaurskald happen. But what I do understand is Othertech.
When Shill tasked me with creating an "energy field or some sort of demonic disruption signal," I took it rather literally. Unfortunately, this piece of tech is way too big to cram into our CaDComs. I would if I could. But! It is "reasonably" portable—it can fit inside a duffle bag! Sure, it weighs a few… couple… hundred… pounds. But that is still "reasonably" portable, as far as I'm concerned! Plus, it's not like we need to move it around for Operation Greenout. We'll just need to ensure it's in the chosen location at the chosen time.
Anyway, what is this marvel of Othertech engineering? It is an Otherside-Flipside Flux Inverter Containment/Emitter. The OFFICE. I figured we could probably call it the "back office" in Diner Speak. Anyway, it does what the name suggests, and it inverts the flux energy between the Otherside and Flipside, contains that energy, and then can later emit it harmlessly back into the aether. It only works when there is a flux between the two dimensions… such as when demonic influences are present in the Flipside. As for the orb that was causing the Red Rain in Long Beach, once its Otherside energy was contained, it just sort of… shattered. It's not exactly what I expected to happen, but I'm happy with the result nonetheless!
