Well, I suppose, seeing as we're coming up on the very end of everything, I can drop my nom de plume—if only for a moment*. Time travel is a tricky business. Forward time travel is easy, trivial even**. Parallel time travel is a bit more difficult, but it is an old hat for the Cafe and Diner. Backward time travel… ah, that is where the challenge truly lies. In part due to the matter of space. See, while it may be easy to forget, we are spinning around the sun at tens of thousands of miles an hour. Even if you could find a way back in time, you would likely end up dead in the void of space unless you were cosmically lucky. Or… if you had the power to warp.

There is a reason warping is such a rare and sought-after power. It is the first step to true time travel—mastery over the Universe itself. Not even Angels tend to possess unlimited warping abilities. However, by the fortune of Fate, there is a human who is more often than not fated to come across such a power. Seth Warren***. Warping is terribly messy, though. It's an effortless way to die horribly if you don't know what you're doing—or… to end up trapped in Limbo. If I had to guess, my time in Limbo helped sharpen my warping powers to the point of being able to time travel. From there, it was merely a matter of linking my powers to books and… well, you have the Society of Nom de Plume.

All this to say… I can warp Sarah Blackwood and myself right to the door of Doris O'Neal's prison. In fact, I've already warped forward a few hours to find the ideal time to do so. I will be able to take us there and back, with Doris O'Neal, without any complications. Unfortunately, I already know that Joy is not also being held there****.

*I intend to keep going by Nine. I've grown fond of the moniker. It feels nice to be one ahead of Eight.

**Depending on how far you're planning on going, anyway. At some point, forward time travel just becomes parallel time travel, after all.

***Around 56% of Seth Warrens can warp. It may seem low, but we are talking in near-infinites.

****Maybe.
