This morning, I woke up with something strange scrawled in my dream journal. Perhaps this is the flow we are meant to follow to our Fated fortune? Whatever I had written was in a language that I couldn’t quite place, and perhaps I still can’t. However, when I sort of… look past the words, the meaning becomes almost crystal clear. How strange. Hopefully, it can provide some further guidance, though it seems to ring with a similar chime to the Omen Miss. Bad gave us. For whatever it’s worth, it does also mention a pearl—could that be the Antekey we’re after? Here’s what I believe it says:
“They come from the depths, Blood ancient and cold as death. In their icy grip they hold the Pearl, Washed ashore, they stir from inky whorl. They move under their Goddess, Erinys, By will of Night to guard her Keys.”
So, like, that’s some pretty heavy stuff, huh? Erinys is definitely Otherworldly, though, and it mentioned a Pearl and Key, which I’m guessing is the Antekey we’re after. So, the question is… who is “they” who hold it in their icy grip? I’ve been doing some research, and I think I might have an answer, though it’s pretty obscure.
As it turns out, in 1856, reports of close encounters with a “Finny Tribe” popped up in Louisiana. Notably, a seafaring man, Ogeron, gave a description of one of these “finny tribe,” a huge sea monster with long horns—one who couldn’t be killed. Like an Elder. I wonder if this group of ancient-blooded Erinys-worshipping creatures could be… Elders from the Black Tide? How would they even escape it? Well, I guess they have before, huh? I’ll see if some of our other magic-y types can uncover more about these Finfolk and maybe why they’ve taken to worshipping a Goddess from the Otherworld.
